““Tango in Paris.” The name evokes lush melodies, irresistible rhythms, and late nights dripping in style. Saturday’s Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra concert, at Worthington United Methodist Church, wasn’t late night, but it hit those other benchmarks squarely.
The concert toed the line between chamber music and upscale recital, with just four musicians from the orchestra presenting pieces that are deeply Parisian, deeply Argentinian, and sometimes a mixture of both. After all, the tango has quite a history in Paris.
These works aren’t household names. It doesn’t matter. Despite their differing origins, they held a common thread of exquisite composition, with a balance between technical mastery and expressive emotion.”
