“In late August, when ProMusica Chamber Orchestra Music Director David Danzmayr took the stage to lead the group for the first time in months, he didn’t quite know how it would go.
“It felt much more normal than I was expecting,” said Danzmayr, whose orchestra performed a series of summertime outdoor concerts following a long layoff because of theater shutdowns during the coronavirus pandemic.
The surest sign of normalcy? Danzmayr was unafraid to get on musicians’ cases.
“We started the first rehearsal, and some things didn’t sound like I wanted and I immediately complained,” Danzmayr said. “People expect not some kind of concert — they expect ProMusica quality.”
Now, in another step toward returning to business as usual, the orchestra has announced a new slate of programs that will serve as the orchestra’s 2020-21 season: Starting with “AutumnFEST” — consisting of three programs to be performed Nov. 7-8, Nov. 14-15 and December dates to be announced in early November — the orchestra will present a series of festival-style performances at the event space The Fives, 555 W. Goodale St.”
