REVIEW: ProMusica’s new season has spirited start with guitar soloist

“The ProMusica Chamber Orchestra opened its 38th season last night with Cuban dances and vibrant evocations of Spanish gardens and the Austrian countryside – all within the walls of Columbus’ Southern Theatre.

Conducted by ProMusica music director David Danzmayr, the orchestra and guitar soloist Aniello Desiderio made poetry out of the angular melodies and piquant harmonies of contemporary Cuban composer Leo Brouwer’s Trez Danzas Concertantes for Guitar and String Orchestra. ProMusica’s strings created a rich bed of support for Desiderio’s seemingly effortless virtuosic flourishes in the allegro first dance.”
