ProMusica’s Neighborhood Series Returns Oct. 11-12 with Schubert’s Octet

The concerts will be led by Vadim Gluzman in German Village and Worthington

(Columbus, OH) – ProMusica Chamber Orchestra’s popular Neighborhood Series will return for the fourth season in a row this October. Neighborhood Series: Schubert’s Octet will feature the notable chamber work, Schubert’s Octet, led by Creative Partner violinist Vadim Gluzman, along with seven of ProMusica’s principal players. Performances will take place on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Worthington United Methodist Church and Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in German Village.

“The Neighborhood Series is all about bringing dynamic music to personal, intimate, and welcoming environments,” said Janet Chen, ProMusica’s CEO. “Each year, our goal is to reach new people through an informal setting, and we are excited for people to experience the artistry of our musicians and renowned violinist, Vadim Gluzman.”

As a variation of the series this season, the program will highlight a small ensemble of ProMusica musicians, rather than the full orchestra, and will focus on a singular piece of chamber music, Schubert’s Octet. As one of the greatest works in the chamber repertoire, the concerts will be filled with drama, lyricism, and joyful virtuosity. Gluzman will lead from the first violin chair alongside concertmaster Kathrine McLin, violin; and principal musicians Elias Goldstein, viola; Marc Moskovitz, cello; John Pellegrino, bass; Ilya Shterenberg, clarinet; Ellen Connors, bassoon; and Stephanie Blaha, horn.

Gluzman joined ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in 2013 as Creative Partner and Principal Guest Artist. In this role, he often takes the stage to lead the program without a conductor and will join as soloist in other concerts. Universally recognized among today’s top-performing artists, Gluzman breathes new life and passion into the golden era of the 19th and 20th centuries’ violin tradition. Gluzman’s wide repertoire embraces new music, and his performances are heard around the world through live broadcasts and a striking catalogue of award-winning recordings exclusively for the BIS label.

Neighborhood Series: Schubert’s Octet will be approximately one hour long, performed without intermissions. Additional information about the concerts is available at promusicacolumbus.org.
