The 47th season will feature renowned guest artists including Béla Fleck, the premiere of ProMusica’s 73rd commission, and celebrates American voices
(Columbus, OH) – ProMusica Chamber Orchestra has announced an exciting lineup for the 2025-2026 season, that will feature a dynamic blend of classics, new music, and unforgettable performances from renowned guest artists along with rising stars. Now entering its 47th season, the orchestra continues its artistic momentum under the leadership of Music Director David Danzmayr and Creative Partner & Principal Guest Artist violinist Vadim Gluzman.
“Our 2025-26 season continues the imaginative programming and our commitment to new, contemporary works that have come to define ProMusica,” said Janet Chen, ProMusica’s CEO. “With the world premiere of our 73rd commission, an all-star roster of guest artists, and our mix of traditional favorites paired with American music, we invite audiences to enjoy the joy and thrill of our incredible orchestra.”
Neighborhood Series: Schubert Octet | Oct. 11, 2025 at Worthington United Methodist Church and Oct. 12, 2025 at Saint Mary Catholic Church:
Filled with drama, lyricism, and joyful virtuosity, Vadim Gluzman and the ProMusica musicians will perform one of the greatest works in the chamber repertoire—Schubert’s Octet.
OPENING WEEKEND: Béla Fleck’s Rhapsody in Blue | Oct. 18-19, 2025 | Southern Theatre:
ProMusica’s 47th season will open in its signature celebratory style. GRAMMY-winning banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck will join the orchestra for his dazzling arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The orchestra will present composer and NAKED CLASSICS host Paul Rissmann’s FLOW: Variations over Time—ProMusica’s 73rd commission and a world premiere—that will take audiences on a journey through landmark styles of modern orchestral music. The evening will close with Beethoven’s dynamic Symphony No. 1 for a thrilling start to the year.
Saint-Saëns & Schubert | Nov. 8-9, 2025 | Southern Theatre:
Evoking cultural connection and reflection, the orchestra will open with Gabriela Lena Frank’s Elegía Andina—a fusion of Andean folk traditions and classical textures. Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and pianist Terrence Wilson will make his ProMusica debut, performing Saint-Saëns’ virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert will conclude with Schubert’s powerful Symphony No. 4 “Tragic.”
Mozart & Gulda | Dec. 13-14, 2025 | Southern Theatre:
An evening rich with classical and contemporary influences—Mark Kosower, principal cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra, will perform Friedrich Gulda’s genre-defying Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra, which will fuse classical tradition with jazz and rock flair. William Grant Still’s imaginative The East will open the program, and Mozart’s youthful Symphony No. 2 will be paired with one of his most famous works, the lively and lyrical Symphony No. 35 “Haffner.”
Mahler Symphony No. 4 | Jan. 17-18, 2026 | Southern Theatre:
Danzmayr will lead the orchestra in an intimately scored arrangement of Mahler’s beloved Symphony No. 4. Acclaimed for her radiant voice and expressive artistry, renowned soprano Camilla Tilling will make her ProMusica debut, showcasing her versatility as a soloist in both Mahler and Golijov’s Three Songs for Soprano and String Orchestra.
Mozart & Schnittke | April 11-12, 2026 | Southern Theatre:
Gluzman will lead a witty and bold program, joined by returning rising stars Julian Rhee and Janice Carissa. An homage to Mozart will be presented in Schnittke’s theatrical Moz-Art à la Haydn, followed by Mozart’s elegant Piano Concerto No. 17. Daugherty’s Diamond in the Rough will sparkle before the musicians close with Mozart’s grand and joyful Sinfonia Concertante.
NAKED CLASSICS: Appalachian Spring | May 15, 2026 | Southern Theatre:
ProMusica will explore Copland’s iconic Appalachian Spring and uncover the heart of the American classic work. With host Paul Rissmann, the program will delve into the music’s roots, meaning, and enduring charm—then bring the full piece to life in a full orchestral performance. Audiences will discover how Copland captured the essence of the nation’s landscapes and traditions in one of its most beloved and uplifting works.
Copland & Shostakovich | May 16-17, 2026 | Southern Theatre:
Gluzman, Danzmayr, and the orchestra will reunite onstage to present Shostakovich’s powerful Violin Concerto No. 1, a work of emotional depth and intensity. Copland’s beloved Appalachian Spring will evoke a sentimental and tender contrast that will be the heart of the American spirit. Strauss’ iconic Blue Danube Waltz will close the concert with sweeping elegance and charm, to bring the 47th season to a joyful finale.
