About Claire Huangci

The American pianist Claire Huangci continually captivates audiences with her confident and bright interpretations, breathtaking virtuosity, and an intelligent, thoughtfully developed sound palette.  With an irrepressible curiosity and penchant for unusual repertoire, she proves her versatility with a breadth of repertoire spanning from Bach and Scarlatti via German and Russian romanticism to Bernstein, Amy Beach, and Samuel Barber.

Highlights from Claire’s 2025-26 season in the US include her concerto debuts playing Shostakovich with the Atlanta Symphony, Mozart with the Baltimore and Santa Rosa Symphonies, and Chopin with the North Carolina Symphony; and returns to Eugene Symphony (Grieg), Springfield Symphony (Gershwin), Columbus Symphony (Beethoven), and Fairfax Symphony (Prokofiev).   Internationally, Claire will perform with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, the Thailand Philharmonic, and the Rheinische Philharmonie, and will embark on an extensive debut recital tour in South America, with performances in Lima, Colombia and Brazil, culminating in Buenos Aires Teatro Colon. Claire wrapped up her summer season playing Gershwin’s Concerto in F with Marin Alsop and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra at the closing concert of the Carinthian Summer Festival, and Marin’s last as the orchestra’s chief conductor.

In solo recitals and with international orchestras, Claire has appeared in some of the most prestigious halls such as Carnegie Hall, Segerstrom Concert Hall, Suntory Hall Tokyo, NCPA Beijing, Paris Philharmonie, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Munich Prinzregententheater, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Konzerthaus, and Salzburg Festspielhaus. She is a welcome guest at the Lucerne Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival and Klavier Festival Ruhr, among others.

Her esteemed musical partners include the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra and Iceland, Eugene and Pacific Symphonies, together with Elim Chan, David Danzmayr, Michael Francis, Howard Griffiths, Pietari Inkinen, Francesco Lecce-Chong, Jun Märkl, Cornelius Meister, Sir Roger Norrington, Eva Ollikainen, Alexander Shelley, Carl St. Clair, and Mario Venzago.

Claire’s newest solo album on Alpha Classics, PIANO HEROINES, with music of Fanny Hensel, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Florence Price, was released in January 2026 to great critical acclaim. Her all-American Alpha recording MADE IN USA, featuring distinct pieces by Gershwin, Beach and Barber, received the “Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.” This followed a highly acclaimed Mozart concerto album with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and Howard Griffiths. www.clairehuangci.com
