ProMusica orchestra launches new socially distanced concert series

“ProMusica Chamber Orchestra will perform once again after six months of silence during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The orchestra announced this week it will host a series of outdoor, socially distanced concerts from Aug. 30 to Sept. 11, a 2020 re-imagination of its popular Summer Music Series.

Only this time, instead of drawing 2,000 people per night to the Franklin Park Conservatory, they’re hoping to draw smaller groups of about 100 people per night across seven different concerts.

“It’s been up and down, a roller coaster, but we’re just trying to carve our path forward,” ProMusica CEO Janet Chen told Columbus Business First. “We wanted to make something happen when we could (do so) outdoors because we have no idea what we can do when it gets into the later fall months.”

The organization has been working with the Franklin County Department of Health to ensure that the “concerts are in compliance with all CDC guidelines,” according to the organization. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday.”
