“With temperatures rising and snow banks dissipating, the thaw is on in central Ohio, but the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra remains in a wintry mindset.
On Saturday at Worthington United Methodist Church, the orchestra performed “Northern Lights,” a program featuring works whose austerity and brittle beauty summon images of ice and cold. The program will be performed again at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Southern Theatre.
Most of the composers on the bill are natives of nations in northwest or eastern Europe: Lera Auerbach was born in Russia, Carl Nielsen in Denmark and Peteris Vasks in Latvia.”
