PREVIEW: ‘Hamilton’ star Renee Elise Goldsberry to share stage, songs with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra

By Peter Tonguette / For the Columbus Dispatch

Hamilton star Renee Elise Golsdsberry will perform with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra on Saturday in the Southern Theatre.

During the course of most seasons, the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra might perform symphonies by Schubert or melodies by Mozart.

Every couple of years, though, the orchestra transforms itself into the backup band for the stars of the Broadway musical Hamilton.

Two years ago, the orchestra partnered with Leslie Odom Jr. — who portrayed Aaron Burr in the original run of the show — for its annual “soiree” fundraiser concert.

On Saturday, for another soiree concert, the orchestra will welcome Renee Elise Goldsberry, who, in a Tony Award-winning turn, appeared opposite Odom as socialite Angelica Schuyler. During the concert in the Southern Theatre, the vocalist will sing as the orchestra plays under the direction of Music Director David Danzmayr.”
