Opening Weekend: Beethoven & Bruch

Simone Porter, violin
David Danzmayr, conductor

Our 45th Season opens with spectacular flair! Beethoven’s exuberant Symphony No. 2 is paired with American composer Carlos Simon’s Fate Now Conquers — a work that gestures to Beethoven’s legacy. Recognized as an emerging artist of impassioned energy, interpretive integrity, and vibrant communication, violinist Simone Porter performs Bruch’s richly poetic Violin Concerto No. 1, a personal favorite of David’s.

CARLOS SIMON – Fate Now Conquers
BRUCH – Violin Concerto No. 1
BEETHOVEN – Symphony No. 2

“I just went to my first ProMusica concert at the Southern. It was a perfect space – intimate with great visuals and excellent acoustics. After years of listening to recordings, I’d say that tonight’s performance of Beethoven was as good, or better, than anything I’ve ever heard.”
