Our Creative Partner, violinist Vadim Gluzman, Music Director David Danzmayr, and the orchestra reunite onstage to present Shostakovich’s powerful Violin Concerto No. 1, a work of emotional depth and intensity. Copland’s beloved Appalachian Spring evokes a sentimental and tender contrast, capturing the heart of the American spirit. Strauss’ iconic Blue Danube Waltz closes the concert with sweeping elegance and charm—bringing the 47th season to a joyful finale.

SHOSTAKOVICH — Waltz II from Suite for Variety Orchestra No. 1

🎻 On Saturday evening the concert will begin with a brief performance from our Play Us Forward string students, showcasing the progress they’ve made throughout the school year.

“Really enjoyed the mix of classical and 20th century. The whole program was really nice—I especially enjoyed hearing from the conductor and soloist.”
