Téa Prokes

Violin

The Deborah Raita Chair

Téa Prokes is originally from Buffalo, New York, and began studying the violin at Buffalo Suzuki Strings at the age of four. She pursued her post-secondary studies with Peter Zazofsky, first violinist of the Muir String Quartet, at Boston University where she was awarded Bachelor of Music degrees in violin performance and music education. She continued her studies at the University of Michigan as a student of Yehonatan Berick where she completed Master of Music degrees in violin performance and chamber music. While at Michigan, she served as concertmaster of the University Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Rosseels Graduate String Quartet.

In 2013 Téa joined the first violin section of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and in 2014 became the associate concertmaster of the TSO, where she spent the next nine years of her career. Téa and her family now call Columbus home, and she frequently appears with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Outside of music, Téa enjoys gardening, cooking gluten-free food, and playing with her two beautiful, rambunctious daughters.
