Violinist Heather Kufchak currently resides near Portland, Maine. A native of Syracuse, New York, she relocated to Columbus, Ohio at age ten. The Kufchak household nurtured a love and respect for music, and Heather enjoyed participating in several local programs for music students during her adolescent years, along with her five siblings who also studied string instruments. She pursued formal training at Ohio University under the instruction of Marjorie Bagley, then went on to earn her Master’s degree in violin performance from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas as a student of Kathleen Winkler.
Heather’s professional journey began with her appointment as a ProMusica violin section member in 2011, which led her to relocate back to Columbus. In the following decade, her career included performances with the Columbus Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Dallas Symphony, as well as various chamber music collaborations. In addition to her performance career, Heather is a passionate educator. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes a balance between technical excellence and artistic expression, fostering musicians who are both skilled and imaginative.
In the past few years, Heather has begun a second career as an interior designer. Her transition from the concert hall to the design studio is driven by her deep appreciation for aesthetics and her commitment to creating spaces that resonate with beauty and functionality. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and creative vision on the concert stage, Heather brings the same level of artistry and dedication to her new endeavor, where she seamlessly blends her passion for aesthetics with her appreciation for harmony and balance.
